How to make bath bombs?

In this article, you will learn how to make your bath bombs that transform your bathroom into a fabulous experience, with a beautiful smell and an incredible sparkling effect.

A bath after a long day is the perfect way to relax. Adding a bath bomb will significantly enhance your bath experience as you will have lavender or rose-scented boil all the time.

Bath bombs are made with a blend of dry ingredients that becomes effervescent when in contact with water. They are an excellent opportunity to add essential oils, color, and perfume to your bathroom water.

It is pretty easy to make your bath bombs, and you don’t need any special equipment. If you don’t have a bath bomb mold, there are plenty of alternatives that work just as well.

For example, you could use molds for chocolate or sweets – they come in various shapes, and you can find them in craft stores. For bath bombs, you could cut a tennis ball in half. Smaller bombs are easier to make as larger ones tend to crumble.

  • If the bath bomb crumbles when removed from the mold, it is possible that the mixture needs to be compressed more, or it is too dry.
When putting the mixture into the mold, be sure to press it firmly and leave it for a couple of minutes before pulling it out. If that doesn’t help, try sprinkling a small amount of water on the mixture.
  • If the bath bomb tends to stretch, you have added too much water, and the sparkling reaction has started. You can fix this by adding two parts of baking soda and one piece of citric acid.
  • Try small amounts first until you can make a bath bomb. Cut back on ingredients accordingly.

  • Bath bomb recipe

  • Glass bowl
  • Spray bottle
  • Gloves
  • Stencils
  • Sieve
  • A cup of citric acid
  • 2 cups of baking soda
  • 20-30 drops of essential oil
  • A teaspoon of sweet almond oil, apricot oil, or olive oil (optional)
  • 15-20 drops of food coloring (optional)
  • A small amount of water

  • Mix the citric acid and baking soda

Thoroughly mix the citric acid and baking soda in a bowl.

  • Add the essential oils.

Add the essential oils and the optional tablespoon of oil or food coloring. Quickly mix with your hands before the mixture starts to fizz. The food coloring makes the mixture a bit lumpy. You can remove lumps by rubbing them between your hands.

  • Spray a small amount of water

Spray small amounts of water on the mixture and continue mixing. You will need very little water. Create a consistency where the mixture is still quite crumbly but will hold its shape when pressed.

  • Prepare the mixture in the mold.

Now the mixture can be placed in the mold. If using two-part molds, lightly fill each half and press them together firmly. Press the mold to release the bath bomb.

  • Let it dry

Let the bath bombs dry for a couple of hours in a warm, dry place. Do not place them in direct sunlight. And there you have it. Now you can enjoy your bombs in a relaxing bath. Make sure you use bath bombs within a few weeks as they will lose their fizzy power if stored for too long.
